Beer Class:

These notes and class agendas were created awhile back. They will still be used for the classes taught by ZZHops. You are free to distribute them to anyone. Enrollment is open to those 21 or older.

Communiversity Signup Online or call 816-235-1448

This is a Communiversity sponsored course that will be taught here in Lees Summit!

Beer and Brewing : This course is designed to teach about two subjects – beer and how to brew. We will begin by brewing beer and then go on to discuss the parts, styles and history of beer and how each art effects the final product. At the competition of the class the student will have participated in brewing twice and be able to take home what they helped with in the first class. Each session will involve sampling some commercial and homebrews. Convener has been president of ZZHops home brewing club of Kansas City twice and is a certified beer judge for the AHA (American Home brewers Association) for 10 years.

You need to bring homebrew or commercial beer to each meeting time. Sign up and then email me. We will brew two extract batches the first Saturday, brew more beer the second Saturday and bottle those first two beers, and then sometime that month assist with judging and grading of hundreds of homebrewed beers on the 3rd Saturday [lots of local micro beers for sampling for free then also and a beer dinner if you wish to attend that as well with guest speaker], and then finally bottle the beer from the first weekend and discuss that beer. Each meeting will also include tasting and talking about those beers that are brought there by the students. It will be a lot of fun and you will learn more than you ever though there was about beer.
